Don't leave it until afterwards, it's far more work! - Have all items boxed and taped so they are stackable prior to the move. This reduces the number of journeys - Move some items downstairs during the day before - If you plan to buy second hand furniture locally, organise to have it ready on the day of the move and it can be picked up as part of the van hire - Reserve a parking space at least 9m long as close to your door as possible - Do not attempt to move anything heavy on your own or that you are not confident moving - Have a day bag with essential items that you may not have access to in the first day or two of your new home. Set aside kettle, teabags, cutlery, a mug, a toilet roll, mobile phone charger, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, some cash, bin bags etc. so you have what you need at your destination - Measure your furniture and check that it fits through the doors. Disassemble any furniture that wont fit prior to the move date. - I have tools but please make sure you have the right tools for any items that need to be disassembled on the day to ensure no delays - Start early in the morning so if estate agents fail to do their job or the unexpected happens there's lots of time to put it right - Request extra labour from me or get friends to join in We’re a haulage and house removal company based in Solihull.
